Emiratisation Deadline Announced For Private Sector Companies

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced the Emiratisation semi-annual deadline for private sector companies is June 30th, 2023.

Last year companies with more than 50 employees, were directed to achieve 2 percent of roles taken up by Emiratis by the end of 2022 and then increase the proportion of Emiratis in the workforce by 1 percent every 6 months.

Therefore 3 percent of skilled jobs must be occupied by Emiratis by July 1st 2023 and 4 percent by the end of 2023. The Emiratisation target employment rate is set to increase to 6 percent in 2024 and 8 percent in 2025, reaching 10 percent by 2026.

Fines for non-compliance will be issued to companies not achieving the semi annual targets. For every Emirati not hired by private sector companies, a fine of AED42,000 will be issued at a rate of AED7,000 per month for 2023, in line with the Cabinet Decision.

Companies registered in free zones are exempt yet are still encouraged to hire UAE citizens.
